Commercial Floors to be Added in New Elevated Metro Stations
Pune Metro Phase 2 is set to make commuting more convenient by adding shops, and kiosks at its 14 upcoming elevated stations. Maha-Metro has invited bids for a detailed design consultant (DDC) to plan not just the station structure but also retail spaces, vending machines, and advertising areas along the Kharadi-Khadakwasla and Nal Stop-Manik Baug corridors.
Maha Metro Phase 2, after considering the metro systems in global cities as its muse, has set off to adding shops and kiosks at its upcoming stations. The reason for this is that commuters should not find traveling a chore, but a whole experience in itself.
These stations will offer daily essentials, quick snacks, and branded retail outlets, making travel more comfortable for passengers. the feasibility of adding extra commercial floors will also be explored, creating new business opportunities.
Inspired by metro systems in global cities, this plan aims to make Pune Metro stations more than just transit points-turning them into bustling spaces where commuters can shop, grab a coffee, or run errands on the go.
