Revisions to be Made in the Pune Metro Network to Ease Traffic Congestion by Expansion
Pune metro expansion is underway, thanks to fresh funding from the Maharashtra state budget.
₹9,897 crore proposed for Pune Metro Phase 2, covering new routes: Khadakwasla-Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi and Nal stop-Warje-Manikbaug.
Fundings have been made by the Maharashtra State Government towards the upgradation of the Pune Metro network. The overall budget has been divided into three, allocating each portion to the refurbishment of three different parts of the network. Commencement of two new routes, creation of an elevated highway, and the remaining funds for speeding up the process on Shiv Srishti.
₹7,515 crore approved for a 54 km elevated highway between Pune and Shirur, aiming to ease traffic congestion. ₹50 crore allocated to speed up work on Shiv Srishti in Ambegaon, a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
