New App Created by Auto Drivers- 'Aamcha Auto'
Auto drivers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have launched an alternative ride-hailing app called 'Aamcha Auto' aiming to reduce reliance on Ola and Uber. This new platform, developed by rickshaw drivers themselves, will be linked to Metro services for better last-mile connectivity.
After the closure of Uber services, auto drivers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas have introduced an alternative to replace the reliance of commuters on online apps. The have devised their own app named 'Aamcha Auto' that will possess a unique fare system, proving beneficial to passengers and drivers. Currently, the technical issues of the app are being worked upon.
Currently in a trial phase, the initiative aims to onboard 5,000 auto drivers and 1,00,000 users soon. The launch was discussed in a Gudi Padwa meeting attended by Maharashtra Rickshaw Panchayat president Baba Kamble and Metro officials.
Kamble stated that the central government is supporting the creation of cooperative ride-hailing platforms. Auto drivers claim that Ola and Uber charge high commissions, reducing their earnings, and that Aamcha Auto will offer better fares for both drivers and passengers. Technical issues are being resolved, and the app's official launch will take place soon.
