Roadblocks Caused by Illegal Encroachments to be Demolished Through Surgical Strikes, Commands Police Commissioner
Traffic in the city of Pune has reached its peak at this point in time, triggering numerous peripheral issues- encroachment being one of them. In bustling areas like Wagholi, the scenario is getting only worse.
Traffic bottleneck has become rampant in the major areas of the city causing illegal encroachments. Amitesh Kumar, Pune's Police Commissioner announced encroachments to be demolished through surgical strikes to deal with the roadblocks. A meeting amongst the authorities resulted in urgent measures and key actions to be implemented.
This has prompted Pune's Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar to look into the matter and suggest a solution. He conducted a hands-on inspection, on 28th January 2025, with major authorities like MLA- Dnyaneshwar Katke and other officials. They collectively decided on carrying out surgical strikes to eradicate encroachments that directly or indirectly cause roadblocks.
This will be done with the aid of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMDA), the Municipal Corporation and the construction department of the city. An important amendment was agreed upon: relocation of bus stops since they contribute to traffic congestion, all stops to be shifted to Wagheswar Parking near Bakori Phata. In the process, the authorities were accused of neglecting crucial public work and prioritizing commercial projects.
