Government Holds Authorities of Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital Accountable for Being Lax, Leading to Pregnant Woman's Death
A government-appointed inquiry committee has held Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital accountable for the death of 27-year-old pregnant woman Tanisha Bhise, stating that timely medical intervention could have saved her life.
An inquiry committee held a meeting recently regarding the death of the pregnant Tanisha Bhise due to medical negligence. The government has apparently held the hospital accountable for the unnatural death of the patient. The hospital authorities may have to face serious legal action.
According to the committee’s preliminary findings, Tanisha was denied urgent care and left waiting for five and a half hours at the hospital. The inquiry was led by Deputy Director of Health Dr. Radhakrishna Pawar and included a team of senior medical officers. Their report alleges that the hospital failed to admit the patient due to “practical reasons,” a lapse they identified as critical in Tanisha’s death.
Further investigations are ongoing by the Maternal Death Review Committee and the Office of the Charity Commissioner. Final action, including possible legal proceedings, will follow upon completion of all reports. Meanwhile, questions are also being raised about the role of Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas, who allegedly referred Tanisha to an expensive IVF center before her delivery.
