Five pilot projects have been launched under the National Green Hydrogen Mission to introduce vehicles powered by hydrogen into the automobile industry. A total of 37 vehicles have been approved by the authorities for this initiative. Firms like Reliance and Tata motors are expected to financially back the project up for a sustainable environment.
The Ministry of Renewable and Non-Conventional Energy has approved 37 vehicles for this initiative-15 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and 22 hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicles. These will operate across ten key routes, including Greater Noida-Agra, Bhubaneswar-Puri, Ahmedabad-Surat and Thiruvananthapuram-Kochi.
Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, NTPC, and other firms will spearhead the project, with ₹208 crore in government funding. The initiative, set to run for 18 to 24 months, aims to develop sustainable hydrogen-based transport technology and refueling structure.
