Third Double-Decker Flyover of Pune Awaits Approval from PMC
Pune is set to get its third double-decker flyover at Kothrud's Paud Road, with the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) proposing an ₹85 crore project.
The 700-meter-long flyover will run from the garbage depot to Lohia IT Park, Bhusari Colony, aiming to reduce congestion. Atul Gadgil, Maha-Metro's director (works), confirmed that a draft design has been submitted to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for approval.
Pune's third double-decker flyover is in the works at Paud Road in Kothrud. Since Paud Road is a major link to the Pune-Mumbai Highway, it experiences heavy traffic. This double-decker flyover aims to reduce that traffic congestion to provide a better travel experience. A rough design has been submitted to PMC for approval.
Modeled after the Nal Stop flyover; this project will be built along the existing road without requiring additional land. With Paud Road being a crucial link to the Pune-Mumbai Highway, traffic congestion remains a major issue. This flyover is part of the city's broader metro expansion, which includes extensions to Chandani Chowk, Wagholi, and Kharadi under Phase 2.
