18 Lakh Vehicles Have Been Registered for HSRP Installation As of Yet
The Maharashtra state transport department has extended the deadline for installing high-security registration plates (HSRP) to June 30 due to low compliance. State Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimawar announced the extension, marking the third deadline shift after the previous ones on March 30 and April 30.
After 3 deadline shifts, the Maharashtra state transport department has extended the deadline yet again to 30th June 2025. As of yet, 18 lakh vehicles from all over Maharashtra have registered for the HRSP, and many more expected to do the same.
Around 18 lakh vehicles in Maharashtra have installed HSRP plates so far. The government had initially mandated that all vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, must install these plates. To streamline the process, three private agencies have been appointed, and vehicles owners can book appointments online or visit authorized centers.
While many vehicle owners welcomed the extension, citing difficulties in securing appointments, others believe frequent deadline shifts should be avoided. Citizens are urging the government to improve the installation process to reduce delays.
