Massive Protest Erupts Over Pregnant Woman's Death at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital
Report by The Newsage Pune.

Pregnant Woman Dies Due to Medical Negligence, Leads to Massive Protest

A massive protest took place outside Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital following the death of a pregnant woman who was allegedly denied admission due to non-payment of an advance deposit of ₹10 lakh.

Citizens protest outside the gates of Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital after a pregnant woman dies due to non-admission by the hospital authorities. The refusal of treatment was due to the incapability of the patient's family to pay a heavy advance amount. The pregnant woman died as a result of brain injury caused by lack of oxygen and no medical help.

The woman, who was in her ninth month of pregnancy, had undergone IVF treatment earlier and was taken to the hospital after experiencing complications. Her family claims they were ready to pay ₹3 lakh immediately but could not arrange the full amount required. After leaving the hospital, she was taken to another medical facility, where doctors revived her from cardiac arrest.

However, she later succumbed to a severe brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen. Following the incident, large crowds gathered outside the hospital, expressing outrage over the alleged refusal of treatment. Protestors demanded action and accountability. Authorities deployed security personnel to maintain order. Hospital representatives have denied allegations of negligence, stating that the patient had not been formally admitted before she left. The case has sparked a broader discussion on access to emergency medical care and hospital policies regarding advance payments.
