Mumbai exits at Panvel to remain shut due to congestion to ease traffic problems, Alternative Routes Suggested
Commencing from 11th February 2025, the Mumbai exits at Panvel will be shut for six months due to construction at Kalamboli Circle, yet suggestions for alternative routes have been made. The slowed movement of vehicles on the highway, and the increased number of road accidents have led the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to initiate building a flyover and underpass as well, to ease the traffic congestion leading up to Mumbai.
Mumbai exits at Panvel is declared to remain shut starting from 11th February 2025 onwards for the next six months. This will take place as a result of the recent construction work underway at Kalamboli Circle. Mobility of vehicles in the surrounding areas to be restricted 24/7 to speed up the process. Alternate routes suggested by the authorities.
All sorts of light and heavy vehicles travelling towards Panvel, Mumbra and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) will have to bear with the inconvenience of travelling until the completion of this project. The restriction has also been imposed 24/7, aiming to speed up the execution, hence, making it advantageous for travelers again. The authorities have suggested alternate routes to be used while travelling.
For passengers travelling to Panvel, Goa and JNPT are required to use NH-48 via Palaspe Circle (diversion at Konphata). Whereas, passengers travelling to Taloja, Kalyan and Shilphata are specified to use the Panvel-Sion Highway via Roadpali and NH-48. The authorities have assured that they are attempting to complete this project within the shortest time frame possible.
