Mumbai-Pune Expressway to be Enhanced for Better Connectivity and Convenience
The ₹1,000-crore elevated corridor project connecting the Mumbai Trans Harbour Sealink (MTHL) to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is set for completion by February 2027, according to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
MMRDA confirms that the elevated corridor project pertaining to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will attain completion in 2027. Creation of several six-lane will be done on the expressways connecting the two major cities and the surrounding regions. Integration of the famous Atal Setu link with Mumbai-Pune Expressway is expected to improve travelling conditions in many ways.
The project includes two six-lane elevated corridors: one from Chirle to Gavan Phata and another from Palaspe Phata to the expressway. The corridor over NH-348 will also include service road reconstruction, while NH-48 in Raigad will be widened to six lanes.
The integration of Atal Setu with the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is expected to improve traffic dispersal and eliminate congestion at key junctions, particularly NH-348, which handles heavy container traffic from JNPT. With a total length of over 6.6km, the project aims to enhance connectivity and boost economic growth in the region.
