Pune Metro Expects Upgrades in the Network System, Especially at Nigdi-Chakan Mtero Line
Pune Metro has initiated the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a new metro corridor connecting Nigdi to Chakan.
This route, expected to be finalized within six months, will serve key industrial hubs in Pimpri-Chinchwad, catering to thousands of daily commuters. While the alignment is yet to be finalized, this corridor aims to enhance connectivity to Chakan's industrial belt, home to major companies.
DPR for a new metro corridor connecting Nigdi to Chakan has been initiated by the Pune Metro. This corridor aims to provide relief to Chakan, Pune's major industrial hub. However, the metro extensions of the different areas in Pune still await approval. Timely approval of both these projects poses a major challenge to its completion.
Meanwhile, the multiple metro extensions are pending final approval from the Central Government, including: Wagholi-Ramwadi, Vanaz-Chandni Chowk, Kharadi-Swargate-Khadakwasla and SNDT-Warje-Manikbaug. The Pune Metro expansion is crucial for easing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility, but timely approvals remain a key challenge.
