PCMC Allocates ₹1 Crore to Ease Traffic at 25 Key Junctions Including Wakad and Bhumkar Chowk

Modified Road Infrastructure to be Provided by PCMC for Erasure of Traffic
Despite having ample infrastructure, Pimpri-Chinchwad faces significant traffic congestion. To address this, the Pimpri-Chinchwad, Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has allocated ₹1 crore to improve 25 congested junctions, with construction starting this year.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has initiated to reduce bottleneck traffic in fast moving areas of Pune. For this purpose, ₹1 crore has been allocated only for making amendments to carry out this plan smoothly. A list of important junctions and chowks have been identified to work around to ease overall traffic congestion.
A joint survey by the Urban Mobility Department and traffic police revealed that increasing vehicles, traffic rule violations, and inadequate road infrastructure are the primary reasons behind these bottlenecks. A plan has been chalked out to decongest the existing traffic. According to the plan, traffic relief will be provided at 10 junctions through signal modifications, one-way routes, deployment of traffic assistants and installation of bollards.
For the safety of pedestrians, 'speed tables' are going to be introduced at key crossings for safer movements. A list of junctions have been identified that experience heavy traffic congestion at all times and hsve scope for improvement.
