DCP Amends Situation, as Heavy Fines Remain Unpaid by Road Violators in Pimpri Chinchwad
The congested traffic situation in the city has led to a lot of motorists to violate traffic and safety rules. However, these heavy fines remain unpaid and have now amounted up to a big sum with Pimpri-Chinchwad traffic police. The fine shave crossed Rupees.74 crores, and Rupees 65 crores still remained uncleared.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Fine amount cross Rupees.74 crores, but heavy fine remains unpaid by violators. Traffic congestion being caused by Smart City Road Projects cause bottleneck traffic, compelling motorists to neglect traffic rules.
In 2024, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police issued fines totaling Rupees.74.67 crores to over 6 lakh motorists for traffic violations, out of which, only Rupees.9.49 crores have been recovered leaving a huge amount unpaid. The common violations include helmetless and triple riding, signal jumping, seatbelt violations and wrong side driving, speeding, using modified silencers, etc. Repeat offenders have been warned against the same and will have to face legal action in court otherwise.
To curb this practice of non-payment, offenders have been asked to clear their dues at the Lok Adalats. Special Inspection Drives will take place periodically at major city intersections. General violations rules have been enforced and emphasized for a smooth road experience for everyone. DCP Bapu Bangar has urged the offenders to promptly pay all fines for an undisturbed working of the system.
