Safety Measures Taken by PMPML to Ensure Protection for Female Passengers Against Harassment
Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has issued strict orders to enhance women's safety in buses against harassment. If female passengers face harassment, bus drivers and conductors must immediately take the bus to the nearest police station and file a complaint.
After the recent infamous rape case that took place at the Swargate bus depot, PMPML has swiftly tightened all security concerning women's safety. Special facilities have been provided to avoid any such mishaps in the future and create the utmost safe space for women to travel. All CCTV surveillance will be under observation.
This decision follows a recent assault incident at Swargate bus station, prompting PMPML to tighten security. CCTV cameras will be installed at bus stations and depots, while non-functional cameras will be repaired. Officials will also inspect surveillance systems in both PMPML-owned and contractor-operated buses.
Additionally, nighttime bus parking protocols have been strengthened, ensuring all doors, windows and hand brakes are securely locked. Miscreants occupying women's reserved seats often resist vacating them.
