All Buses of PMPML to Have CCTV Cameras for Better Safety
In a bid to enhance passenger security, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will equip all its buses with CCTV cameras by the end of February. The tender process for installation has been completed.
CCTV cameras are set to be installed in all of PMPML's buses with the aim of improving passenger safety. This will also help monitor staff conduct and avoid altercations and litigations between passengers and staff. Spontaneous response has been received from PMPML's app namely, 'Apli PMPML', while also generating major revenue.
Currently, PMPL operates 1,800 buses, with 900 under the Gross Contract (GCC) model, which are already equipped with cameras. The remaining buses will receive three CCTV cameras each, ensuring improved surveillance. This initiative aims to prevent thefts and monitor staff conduct.
Additionally, PMPML's mobile application, Apli PMPML, has surpassed 10 lakh downloads. The transport body generates ₹1.62 crore in daily revenue, with ₹21-22 lakh coming from the app. Officials believe these measures will significantly improve passenger safety across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
