Report by The Newsage Pune.

PMRDA Urges Existing Encroachments to be Voluntarily Removed

In a large-scale anti-encroachment drive, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) removed 201 unauthorized structures across three highways on Monday, March 3. The action cleared over, 20,000 square feet of space, aiming to reduce traffic congestion in key areas.

201 unauthorized and illegal structures across three highways were demolished in order to clear traffic congestion. The campaign has several chief partners like PWD, NHAI and MSRDC to name a few, and this network of authorities has urged the owners of many more such encroachments to remove them at their own will to avoid further inconvenience.

The campaign, planned in coordination with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), National Highways Authority (NHAI), local police, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), and the Public Works. Department (PWD) focuses on eliminating illegal shops, stalls, and constructions. PMRDA has urged those with unauthorized structures to remove them voluntarily.

With a detailed demolition schedule in place, the drive will continue in March 2025, targeting illegal encroachments along national and state highways to ensure smoother traffic flow and safer road conditions.
