Pune to Deploy Female Security Guards on School Buses After Swargate Incident
Report by The Newsage Pune.

Female Security Guards to be Deployed in PMPML Buses

Following the shocking rape incident at Swargate ST bus depot, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to deploy female security guards on PMPML buses transporting schoolgirls.

The move aims to ensure student safety and will be included in the municipal budget. Pune, once considered a safe city, has seen rising crimes against women, promoting widespread outrage. The chief minister has taken note of the situation. Currently, PMPML school buses lack female security personnel, unlike private school vans.

PMPML buses have specifically hired female guards to better security conditions for schoolgirls commuting daily by buses, after the infamous Swargate rape case. The funds dedicated towards this initiative will be included in the municipal budget. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra has approved of this decision and has ensured substantial action.

PMC will now assign female guards to around 200-300 buses. Additionally, Commissioner, Prithviraj BP confirmed that budgetary provisions will be made to ensure secure travel for students. Implementation is expected in the coming days.
