PMPML to Introduce Buses with Advanced Facilities for Pune Commuters
PMPML will induct 1,100 new buses over the next 7–8 months, with 500 buses expected to arrive within the next two months, announced Chairperson Deepa Mudhol-Munde during a passenger interaction session held on Sunday. The session saw active participation from commuters who voiced strong concerns about the current state of PMPML services.
PMPML has promised to provide commuters of Pune with more and better buses for daily travel. The session included passenger complaints and passenger assurances, that are soon to be acted upon by PMPML authorities. The initiative aims at providing a safe, reliable and convenient travel for all.
Key Passenger Complaints include- Lack of bus shelters, seating, and proper signboards, Drivers frequently using mobile phones while driving, No clear display of bus numbers and route information, Limited or no connectivity to many rural areas, Unhygienic buses and poor maintenance.
PMPML’s
Assurances include- Women’s safety to be a top priority in route planning, Expansion of services to rural and under-served areas, Regular service audits and faster grievance redressal, exploring real-time tracking through a mobile app, Strict action against drivers violating safety rules. Mudhol-Munde also emphasized PMPML’s commitment to citizen participation and rebuilding public trust through a more reliable, safe, and responsive transport service.
