Municipal Commissioner and Additional Police Commissioner Emphasized on Improvement in Pune Traffic
Pune's traffic congestion is showing signs of improvement, with vehicle speeds increasing on major roads due to measures implemented by the municipal corporation and police. Officials claim that traffic speed on Solapur Road and Nagar Road has risen from 20km/hr to 22.5km/hr.
Municipal Commissioner has claimed that Pune traffic has witnessed significant improvement in its movement throughout the city. Many infrastructural amendments have been made to ease the congestion like demolition of encroachments, adjustment of drainage covers, etc. Attempts are still being made to improve current traffic conditions.
To tackle the city's chronic traffic jams, authorities have identified 15 key roads for resurfacing and leveling. Drainage covers have been adjusted, and encroachments are being removed to ensure smoother movement. As a result, roads that were previously avoided due to congestion are now seeing increased vehicle flow. Luxury buses have been assigned designated routes and parking spaces, preventing unnecessary stops that previously contributed to congestion.
Additionally, 11 PMPML bus stops near intersections have been relocated to improve traffic movement. In the next phase, roadside parking along these main roads will be reduced, and action against unauthorized rickshaw stops has been intensified. Municipal Commissioner Dr.Rajendra Bhosle and Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil emphasized that a joint strategy is in place to further improve road conditions.
