Problem of Impure Drinking Water in Pimpri-Chinchwad to be Solved with the Use of Closed Pipeline
To meet the growing water demands of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the municipal corporation has allocated significant funds in its budget for clean and sufficient water supply. A major project worth ₹950 crore will lay a closed water pipeline from Pavana Dam to Nigdi, ensuring uncontaminated water reaches residents.
A closed pipeline will be laid from Pavana Dam to Nigdi in an attempt to fix all sorts of water problems in Pimpri-Chinchwad. A budget of ₹950 crore has been allocated for the same as an immediate solution is necessary. A few more budgets have been allocated to the tributary projects of the primary one.
With increasing pollution in the Pavana River due to industrial waste and sewage, the need for an advanced water supply system has become urgent. The project will also integrate automated monitoring via SCADA technology with a ₹36.75 crore budget for better control and efficiency. Additionally, ₹2,711 crore has been planned for the rejuvenation of Pavna, Mula and Indrayani rivers, with dedicated funds for each.
A ₹863 crore investment will improve water storage, fix leakages and implement smart meters to curb unauthorized connections. This ambitious infrastructure boost aims to provide clean drinking water and improve the city's water management, ensuring a sustainable future for Pimpri-Chinchwad.
