IMD Warns Maharashtra of Above Normal Temperature Pattern and Scorching Heat
Pune recorded its highest temperature of the season on Monday at 37.7°C, making an early onset of summer, according to IMD. Lohegaon was even hotter at 39.6°C, making it the hottest location in Maharashtra, with a 5.2° departure from normal!
Monday was recorded as the highest temperature of the season in Maharashtra at 37.7°C marking the premature commencement of summer. Maharashtra has recently gone off the charts with its weather pattern, and IMD confirms that conditions are only going to get worse.
Other cities facing extreme heat included Solapur (38.9°C), Akola (38.6°C), Chandrapur (38°C), and Brahmapuri (37.9°C). Even coastal areas felt the impact, with Ratnagiri at 34.4°C and Santacruz at 35.3°C.
IMD warns that Maharashtra will experience above-normal temperatures until May 2025, with prolonged heat waves likely. The state falls in the deep red zone on the forecast maps, indicating an intense summer ahead.
