Project of Women's Hostels Approved by PCMC Commissioner
In a bid to support young women moving to the city for work and education, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to construct a dedicated hostel in Wakad.
The project, part of the Central Government's capital investment scheme, aims to provide safe and affordable accommodation. Survey number 113 in Wakad has been allocated for the hostel under the Industrial to Residential (I to R) scheme.
A virtuous initiative by the PCMC of starting a women-dedicated hostel has been approved by Commissioner Shekhar Singh. The intention is to primarily set the hostel up in Wakad as there is an overflow of students and employees in this area for more opportunities.
Envirosafe Consultants, an agency specializing in women's hostels, has been appointed to design and manage the project, with a fee set at 1.93% of the total tender amount. Commissioner Shekhar Singh has approved the initiative, with clearance from the Standing Committee.
