Initiative by MLA Jagtap to Curb Noise and Air Pollution in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Rising air pollution in Pimpri-Chinchwad has sparked concerns among residents, with Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap demanding immediate closure of unauthorized ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants violating environmental norms.
MLA Shankar Jagtap demanded immediate closure of unauthorized RMC plants abundantly located in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Since several housing projects in the area rely heavily on RMC plants, the noise and air pollution have climbed a ladder, putting residents' health at risk. Jagtap has led this initiative on will full swing and is expecting results to be delivered by authorities very soon.
In a letter to Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Jagtap highlighted that these plants, operating without approval, are causing severe air and noise pollution, putting residents' health at risk. The constant dust emissions from RMC plants contribute to respiratory disorders, while heavy vehicle movement and machinery noise disrupt daily life and cause potential damage.
Several housing projects and infrastructure in the Chinchwad constituency rely on RMC plants, worsening pollution levels. The memorandum submitted by Jagtap emphasizes the need for strict action against plants violating Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) regulations.
Children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory ailments are the worst affected. Jagtap has urged authorities to act promptly and shut down all unauthorized RMC plants to safeguard public health.
