PMC to Conduct an Auction for the 40 Properties Seized in Sinhagad Educational Institute
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday seized 49 properties of Sinhagad Educational Institute over pending property tax dues exceeding ₹266 crore. The properties, located in Wadgaon and Kondhwa, have dues of ₹198 crore and ₹20 crore, respectively.
PMC seized 49 properties of Sinhagad Educational Institute for no payment of property taxes. PMC had also seized properties in other areas of the city for the same reason and now plans to auction off Sinhagad Institue's property within a month's time. However, academic activities have not been ceased in spite of the closure of the property.
PMC previously seized a property in Erandwane in December 2024, with ₹48 crore in dues. As payments were not cleared within a month the corporation will now auction it. PMC will also auction other properties if dues remain unpaid beyond March 31, 2025.
While the institute's offices have been sealed, academic activities continue. PMC officials stated that valuation and bidding procedures will follow standard protocols, potentially via online or offline auctions. the institute has not responded to inquiries regarding the matter.
