Safety Nets of the Mantralaya Saves Life of 41-Year-Old Man Suffering from Police Harassment
A 41-year-old Pune resident, Vijay Sashte, jumped from the seventh floor of Mantralaya on Tuesday in protest against alleged police harassment but was saved by a safety net on the second floor, officials said.
An incident occurred at the Mantralaya, where a man from Pune jumped from the seventh floor of the building in an attempt to disapprove and protest against harassment and ill treatment meted out by the police authorities. He sustained back injuries, and the safety nets of the building saved his life.
Sashte went to Mumbai to petition the Chief Minister about illegal grazing land sales in Pune, claiming forged documents were used and that police ignored his concerns for six years.
He sustained back injuries and was taken to St. George's Hospital, while authorities investigate his allegations.
