Deputy Police Commissioner Denies the Conditions of Stampede in Shivajinagar During Police Recruitment

A police recruitment drive at Shivajinagar police headquarters turned chaotic on Wednesday morning when the entrance gate collapsed due to an overwhelming crowd. Over 3,000 female candidates had gathered for the recruitment process for 531 female prison police positions.

A female police recruitment drive of around 3,000 candidates turned chaotic on Wednesday morning, 4 AM. The main gate of the premises collapsed due to the overwhelming strength of the number of people. Citizens blame the mismanagement of the system for this stampede-like situation. However, Deputy Commissioner of Police denied these allegations.

At around 4 AM, the gate gave way, leading to panic as candidates rushed inside. Some women near the gate fell, causing a brief stampede-like situation. The presence of accompanying relatives further added to the congestion. Videos of the incident went viral, raising concerns about mismanagement.

However, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Bhajbhakare denied any stampede, stating that the situation was quickly brought under control. While some candidates sustained minor injuries, no major casualties were reported. The recruitment process resumed after order was restored.
