Operation of Illegal Pubs Causing Noise Pollution Become a Concern for the Residents in Areas of Pune
A high-level meeting was held at the office of the additional police commissioner in Pune to address rising concerns over illegal pubs, bars, and commercial establishments disrupting residential areas. Chaired by Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, the meeting included MP Medha Kulkarni (Rajya Sabha), Pune police officials, the excise department, and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) representatives.
Illegal pubs and bars are on the rise in Pune, raising concerns amongst residents of Kalyani Nagar, Baner, Pashan and Viman Nagar regarding safety. A high-profile meeting was held in this regard, where the attendees discussed measures to be taken in order to reduce such activities. Authorities have been asked to re-evaluate licenses.
Residents from Kalyani Nagar, Baner, Pashan, and Viman Nagar raised serious complaints about noise pollution, illegal land-use changes, and safety threats linked to these establishments. Key issues discussed included the illegal operation of rooftop pubs and bars causing noise pollution, drug and alcohol-related safety risks, and unchecked public drinking.
MP Kulkarni assured residents of strict action against violators and urged authorities to re-evaluate bar and public licenses for transparency. Officials pledged a coordinated effort to restore order in affected areas.
