IMD Pune Forecasts Slight Dip in Temperature During the Day, Night Temperature Expected to Remain the Same
The city is witnessing extreme day-night temperature variations, with daytime highs exceeding 38 °C while night temperatures drop to around 16 °C- a difference of over 22 °C in some areas. Shivajiagar recorded a high of 38.7 °C and a low of 16.7 °C, while NDA (38.6 °C to 15.8 °C) and Pashan (38.8 °C to 17.4 °C) showed similar patterns.
Pune has been witnessing extreme day-night temperatures raising serious concerns amongst meteorologists and health experts. Health experts strictly warned residents to take extra precautions regarding their immunity since such sharp changes in the weather causes profound diseases. Meteorologists predict that night temperatures are sure to rise in the approaching days.
Meteorologists attribute the fluctuation to clear skies that cause rapid daytime heating and sharp nighttime cooling. Health experts say such variations can weaken immunity, leading to an increase in viral infections, allergic bronchitis, headaches, and heat-related illnesses.
The respiratory system is particularly vulnerable as temperature swings dry out mucous membranes during hot days, making individuals more susceptible to infections at night. IMD Pune forecasts a slight dip in maximum temperatures due to moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, but night temperatures may rise. A partly cloudy sky from Wednesday onwards could provide minor relief.
