Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosle Advocates for Five-Star and Hygienic Restrooms for Visitors
Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale announced plans to construct "five-star" toilets across the city to serve day-long visitors struggling to find hygienic restrooms.
Rajendra Bhosle announced the construction of premium restrooms and toilets at major entry points across the city of Pune. The idea was brought up keeping in mind the heavy flow of floating visitors that the city lets in on a daily basis. The five-star toilets aim to provide a clean, hygienic and safe space for visitors to relax.
Presenting the municipal budget on Tuesday, he highlighted that nearly 5% of Pune's population consists of floating visitors who lack proper facilities. These premium toilets will feature clock rooms for temporary luggage storage and clean, well-maintained restrooms.
The facilities will be strategically placed at major entry points, including the Solapur and Ahilya Nagar Highways, with additional parking spaces for convenience. While the initiative addresses a genuine need, its execution will determine whether it truly benefits visitors or remains another ambitious urban plan.
