Nurses at Sassoon Hospital in Pune Conduct Strike to Pressurize Administration
Nurses at Sassoon General Hospital held a one-day strike to protest salary delays and unpaid allowances. Led by the Maharashtra Government Nurses Association, the demonstration highlighted ongoing financial and administrative issues.
A one-day strike was put up by the nurses of Sassoon Hospital in Pune. This was done as a protest against unpaid salaries and allowances from the hospital authorities. The ordeal was led by the Maharashtra Government Nurses Association, bringing to light the various issues existing in the system.
They demanded the release of unpaid benefits, including washing, missing, operation theatre, and night shift allowances, which are provided at other hospitals like J.J. Hospital in Mumbai and Civil Hospital in Thane.
According to the association, Sassoon Hospital nurses have not received these allowances since 2016, despite repeated appeals to authorities. The strike aimed to pressure the administration into addressing these disparities and ensuring fair compensation for all nursing staff.
