Cultural Affairs Minister Announced Redevelopment and Conservation of Sinhagad Fort
A crucial meeting regarding the development and conservation of Sinhagad Fort will be held within the next 15 days, Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar announced in the state legislature. The meeting aims to address the fort's preservation and enhance facilities for tourists.
Sinhagad Fort in Pune, a symbol of the city's prestigious history and culture, has always faced accessibility issues due to encroachments in its vicinity. Since it is one of the city's major tourist attractions, the Minister of Cultural Affairs has taken the matter in his own hands to refurbish the fort's surroundings.
The issue was raised by MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, who questioned the delay in a comprehensive development plan for the historic site. He emphasized the need for a joint meeting involving the Archaeology Department, Forest Department, Public Works Department, and the Collector, all of whom share responsibility for the fort's management. In response, Shelar acknowledged the importance of the matter and assured that officials from all relevant departments would convene under the leadership of the guardian minister.
The upcoming discussions are expected to outline concrete measures for the fort's restoration, improved accessibility, and better amenities for visitors. Sinhagad Fort, a significant historical and tourist destination, has long faced concerns over maintenance, encroachments, and infrastructure shortcomings. The forthcoming meeting is expected to pave the way for much-needed improvements to preserve the fort's legacy while enhancing visitor experience.
