Authorities Urge Residents to Maintain Unclean ACs Amid Soaring Temperature
With temperature soaring to 40°C in Pune, air conditioners (ACs) are back in use, but experts caution that unclean ACs can cause severe respiratory issues. Dr. Sneha Tirpude, a pulmonologist at Ruby Hall Clinic, warned that dust, pigeon droppings, and fungus accumulation in ACs during months of inactivity, leading to allergies, breathing difficulties, and hypersensitivity pneumonia.
Leading pulmonologist at Ruby Hall Clinic advice residents of Pune to clean their ACs and its units thoroughly. Dust and fungus accumulation in ACs go unnoticed and cause diseases like asthma unknowingly. Citizens are urged to get their ACs cleaned before the onset of summer.
Asthma patients are particularly at risk. Many residents neglect AC servicing, assuming their units work fine. Sudhir Gautam, an AC repair expert, explained that clogged filters and dirty water lines reduce cooling efficiency and cause musty odors.
Doctors advise cleaning ACs every six months to prevent bronchitis, allergies and flu-like symptoms. With summer intensifying, regular AC maintenance is essential not just for better cooling but also to safeguard health.
