Wreckage of Eight Unauthorized Tobacco Shops Near Schools and Other Institutions by Legal Authorities
Since the spread of Western culture, residents of Pune are concerned about young students adopting the Western ways of life. Paan shops have been illegally put up in close proximity of various schools in areas of Hadapsar, Fursungi, Wanwadi and Kalepadal.
Residents of Hadapsar, Fursungi, Kalepadal and Wanwadi acknowledge and appreciate local police's action of demolishing illegal paan shops erected near schools. Tobacco products being sold near reputed educational institutions raise concern amongst residents regarding the integrity of the same.
Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, strictly warned concerned authorities to act upon this complaint and caused wreckage of eight unauthorized tobacco shops near schools and renowned institutes. Local police, coupled with municipal teams demolished multiple illegal structures near school premises. In Kalepadal, the demolition was carried out with the help of bulldozers and in Fursungi, two such shops were dismantled. Wanwadi Bazar was cleared off of tobacco litter and action was taken against offenders.
In conclusion, cases were registered against eight shop owners for violating regulations that prohibit the sale of tobacco and liquor within 100 meters of educational institutions. This action is expected to set an example for stricter enforcement against unauthorized vendors functioning near schools and colleges.
